Technically Retarded.

In this day and age. Why has it suddenly become so important not to be a technical retard?

Now, what do I mean when I say 'Technical Retard'? Well, it's exactly as you think. It's someone who is lagging behind the rest of us with technology, or like most of our parents, have no idea what technology now achieves, and they believe old fashioned typewriters do the same as a printer. But is that a bad thing? I say no. Want to know why? Read on...
Why is this so hard?

Right, let's get this straight. I think being technologically up-to-date is an extremely bad thing. I have two theories which support my problems. One. Most people who buy all the latest gadgets and gizmo's seem to be the most socially awkward people, you know, the ones who try to initiate conversation with a really weird grunt. I find these people buy the gadgets, learn everything they can about them, and then show them to us. And no offence to all of you who don't do this, but are still up-to-date, I just am working with majorities here.
Two. People nowadays are afraid in what I would call, lagging behind. They feel that society would leave them in a ditch if they do not buy the new, hypothetically speaking, iPhone 4GS, even if the difference to the older version was minor. Some crave the attention to show off what they have. Like males. But is 'lagging behind' a bad thing? I believe not.

It adds complications to things...
I am not crazy about technology, I believed that a phone was good for messaging and phoning people. And now that I have an iPhone 4...  :D... I can say exactly the same... That's all a phone is good for. Sure you can now look at random stuff on the Internet whenever you feel like it! But my family, and many people I know, don't have an iPhone, and they manage just fine. Better then fine. Because unlike us iPhone 4 owners, their eyes are not glued to the screen. Constantly. I used to be amongst these 'Techy tards', My desk literally has a bend in from where my old Standard Definition television used to be so heavy it would weigh it down, and I had that television for quite a while. But unlike buying a HDTV, I stuck with my television, and it did exactly what I wanted it to do...Playing games, watching TV and DVDs and that's all we need television for! Sure, it's awesome getting a new television which takes up your entire wall, but being a 'Techy Tard' is not a bad thing, because you have which I believe we should all go back to, the bare essentials.

I know many of you who read this will disagree, and send me vast amounts of e-mails, telling me of advantages of the new stuff, but I already know, there's enough adverts on television to explain what the hells in a 3D television... So don't complain. However, don't get me wrong, not being a 'Techy Tard' is not bad at all. I love it when someones confused and I can easily help them... Like my parents and turning on a basic computer. But I believe that people should sometimes deal with what they have, and not feel they would be judged because they have a lesser version of the iPhone 4...

But let's go back to that above all important question. Is it bad to be a technological retard? I strongly believe no. Bare essentials are fine, and we have suddenly become crazed up with gadgets, when they're not necessarily needed. Sure, you have advantages to knowing a lot about technology, but leading a life, spending money on frivolous items to please ones nature.. That's not right. If you want to have a Nokia 3310 then fine. Who's going to stop you? And if someone laughs at you, your item has exactly the same importance as them. Because at the end of the day, it's a bit of technology.

But it's as Einstein said... "It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity" and that was back when he was alive. When TVs were black and white, and the radio looked like today's 3-D television. Sure, technology has come a long way across the vast strip, but choosing not to follow it is not alien.

Anyway, thank you for reading, any disagreements or agreements, just send me a message and I'll happily get back to you. If you really disagreed with opinions, go to this page and I hope it helps. :-)
Also, I apologise if you cringed at the pun.

  1. Where it says 'which I believe we should all go back too, the bare essentials.', it should be to, not too. Apart from that I enjoyed it :)
